About Us

Updated June 10, 2026

localmarketway.org is a small reference site about traditional, hand-tool woodworking aimed at beginners in Canada. It collects the practical decisions that come up early in the craft: which tools to buy first, how common joints behave, and how to keep a home workshop safe.

Scope

The site covers hand-tool techniques and the reasoning behind them. It is informational and describes general traditional practice. It does not sell tools, and it is not a substitute for a manufacturer's instructions or local safety regulations.

How the content is prepared

Articles are written in plain language and reviewed for accuracy against publicly available, established references such as encyclopedic sources and public safety bodies. Where a precise figure is not well established, the text uses neutral wording rather than inventing numbers.

Images

Photographs and diagrams are drawn from Wikimedia Commons and used under their respective Creative Commons or public-domain licenses, with the source noted in each caption.
